It is noted that all past workshops on Aerial Robotics organized by the IEEE Technical Committee were very successful with over 200 people attending each event. This Workshop aims to follow up the success of past workshops including ICRA Workshops, euRobotics Workshops. As a reference, the ICRA 2023 full-day Workshop had more than 300 registrants. Therefore, our event aims to involve the community at large including researchers at any level even without prior experience in aerial robotics that are interested to learn and contribute to the proposed topics. Last but not least, it is highlighted that this workshop offers novelties with respect to previous events in terms of topics and collaboration opportunities with other areas inrobotics beyond the ones covered by the Aerial Robotics and Unmanned Aerial VehiclesTechnical Committee (TC).

Therefore, we plan and expect to involve a broad audience interms of background and interests from both academia and industry. In addition to thefundamental science and methods this workshop will also focus on the benefits that these concepts can bring to other areas of robotics and to society including energy efficiencyand safety. Furthermore, this year, we have engaged several junior researchers as co-organizers who will also serve as junior co-chairs of the TC. This initiative aims to foster greater integration and participation of young researchers in the workshop and the broader community working in this field. The workshop will serve as an opportunity and inspiration for them to start distinguished lectures and summer schools in the field that will further promote inclusion and diversity in our community.

We plan to livestream the workshop via Zoom or YouTube. The recordings will be made accessible to ensure that individuals facing travel constraints (whether due to health, financial, or geographical reasons) can still actively participate. This approach aims to broaden the workshop’s reach and increase its influence within the intended community. Finally, we will include during this event an early-career research panel involving both students and leaders in the field to discuss and provide advice to students about researchand future career needs.
